Job Title: Diesel Mechanic

Position Overview:

The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles and equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. This role requires technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities:

    1.    Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance:

    •    Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and other systems.

    •    Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks.

    2.    Diagnostics and Troubleshooting:

    •    Use diagnostic tools and software to identify mechanical and electrical issues.

    •    Provide accurate assessments of repairs and estimate labor and material costs.

    3.    Repairs and Replacements:

    •    Repair or replace faulty components such as engine parts, fuel systems, and exhaust systems.

    •    Ensure all repairs meet manufacturer specifications and safety standards.

    4.    Safety and Compliance:

    •    Conduct inspections to ensure vehicles and equipment comply with safety and environmental regulations.

    •    Maintain detailed records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities.

    5.    Equipment Operation and Testing:

    •    Test vehicles and equipment post-repair to ensure proper functioning.

    •    Operate diagnostic and repair equipment safely and effectively.

    6.    Collaboration and Communication:

    •    Work closely with team members, supervisors, and vehicle operators to identify issues and plan repairs.

    •    Provide recommendations for preventative maintenance to reduce downtime.

Qualifications:

    •    High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in diesel mechanics preferred.

    •    Proven experience as a diesel mechanic or in a related role.

    •    Strong knowledge of diesel engines, systems, and repair techniques.

    •    Proficiency with diagnostic tools, repair equipment, and technical manuals.

    •    Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.

    •    Excellent problem-solving and time-management skills.

Physical Requirements:

    •    Ability to lift and carry heavy parts and tools (up to 50 lbs).

    •    Comfortable working in various positions, including bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.

    •    Ability to work in environments that may include noise, fumes, and varying temperatures.
